New Patent Claims This Seaweed Tastes Just Like Bacon

Just when we learned to accept that bacon may not be as unhealthy as we think, Oregon State University researchers have found an alternative to this prized breakfast treat. What they have patented is a red marine algae called dulse that can be found in the wild along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines.

It grows twice as fast as kale and is packed full of protein. When cooked at a certain temperature, the algae is claimed to taste like bacon, so if you extracted bacon from your diet, there is now hope for you.
